WW10 - Snapshot 1
Posted by cmos @ Fri 12 Mar, 10, 12:08PM under Kleo

I admit that I hav a big issue with my weight of late. My body no longer seems able to burn off the access calories like it used to back when I was in my mid-20. Whatever weight I add, stays. Plus the fact that my physical regime have been reduced to nill nowadays... this only compounds to the problem. And the clock is ticking.

Good news is that my weight hover-ed around 172lbs for a year now. Bad news is that I physically look more like an obese 200lbs even if the scale says otherwise. Honestly, I'm running out of ideas on how to bring that down with the limited amount of time I have everyday.

One - I could starting cardio workouts again - which unfortunately doesn't seem feasible based on my daily routine of late. Or two - I could try starving myself half to death - which makes more logical sense. Lemme try option 2 first and see where it goes.

When dropping by this page, many of you may ask... "Why the **** did the author use this sub-standard blurry lookin nite shot as the header?" I took this photo many years back when I was still using my dinky 4mp Casio digicam. No image stabilization, horrible high ISO performance and noise reduction applied by the shovel. However, it doesn't matter how the pic looks like, it was more a matter of it capturing what was going through my mind when the photo was taken.

During this time, I was still in the early days of dating CL. She was on the mainland, while I was on the island. We usually only meet up during the weekends. Though it wasn't far, I had this constant nagging feeling that the bridge was an unnecessary wedge between us. Many a times, while driving home, I would stop by the side of the road, take a good long look at the bridge; wondering if this relationship would work and whether we could bring it to the next level.

Little did I know, this bridge, the physical divide between the two of us, ended up being the link which eventually brought us emotionally closer together. It's kinda true that distance does make the heart fonder; especially for simpletons like the both of us. The anticipation of the end of the work week, and the simple act of just driving over to meet your other half across the bridge becomes something you really look forward to. Things really are different when you have someone to love and share your life with.

Fast forward slightly more than 5 years later, we decided ink our John Hancock together onto that blue piece of document on the 15th of November 2009.

CL, I'm delighted to start a new life together with you.

LAB

I'm a typical M'sian male... who doesn't give a hoot about skincare or how presentable he looks. Metro-sexual is an alien term to me... I really hope it doesn't mean male gigolo in the city. And basically, my 'beauty' regime consist of one thing only...

... behold...

A cheap bar of soap which doubles as my bath soap, makeshift shampoo, shaving cream, dolphin cleaner (u Danny Choo geeks should know wot I mean...) and facial cleanser. It's my all in one alpha male toilletry. Which explains why the craters on my face are the size of Jupiter and my skin is oilier than wok used by my favorite goreng pisang seller near the Terengganu roundabout.

Unfortunately, age is creeping up on me and my skin is no longer as resilient as it used to be in weathering the horrendous amount of abuse I put it through. I guess my habits were irksome enough to warrant me getting a set of proper skincare products as a birthday present about a month ago... lol.

And thus, here begins my journey in trying to fix some of the damage which I did to my skin. And to do that I'm going to use two products from LAB.

The first product I have in my hand is the LAB series Power Wash. The description on the box says "Rich foaming gel formula with enzymatic cleansing action removes dirt, excess oil and pollution and unclogs pores without altering the skin's natural PH balance. Skin is left feeling soft, smooth, refreshed and ready for a close sleek shave".

My first impression is, I really like this facial wash a lot. A little bit goes a long way and it foams up well. It's really gentle and being fragrance free... there's no artificial smelling afterfeeling. And the nicest thing about it is that it doesn't dry your skin out... so you don't get that 'face-tugging' feeling some more caustic facial wash does to your skin.

Next up is the LAB series Oil Control Solution. The description on the box says "Oil-free solution with Salicylic Acid and Witch hazel dissolves excess sebum, tightens pores, tones and soothes skin for a clear, shine-free look."

Ok. This one... um... I have a little more problem getting used to. I'm suppose to swab this over my face after washing. Which isn't much of a problem... except for the fact that the acid in this emulsion based lotion is rather strong smelling. And there seems to be slightly etanol based... as I felt it evaporating really fast after application. Overall... it's not a pleasant experience but it does help control shine than none at all.

It's a little early to tell if these products will help fix my skin. But I'll run a long term evaluation as time goes along. I may add some additional products on top of these two in future if deemed necessary. But overall... being metro doesn't seem so bad after all... vain-ness could be a good thing... lol.

Fast.

Efficient.

Professional.

I can't believe I'm saying this about a government institution. But the EPF office at Sunway Tunas have amazed me time and time again.

Kudos to the officers who made my trips there a quick and painless one.

I take back my opinions on Crank : High Voltage.

This one is superior.

Nuff said.

Crank : High Voltage
Posted by cmos @ Tue 18 Aug, 09, 06:16PM under Kleo

Found yet another gem of a movie. This time it's in an action flick staring Jason Statham. Anything this fella touches turns into gold... at least for me that is. High Voltage is the sequel to the original movie Crank, and Statham reprises his role as Chev Chelios; a foul mouth superhuman of some sort.

A quick summary of the plot. Chelios is knocked out cold after falling from a helicopter. He wakes up to find Chinese gangsters have replaced his heart with an AbioCor Artificial heart. Once the external battery pack runs out, the internal battery will kick in and he will have 60 minutes before it stops working. The movie then revolves around Chelios trying to track down the muthafarker who stole his heart, spank a whole lotta ass along the way and trying to woo back Eve, his woman... who thinks he's dead. A running gimmick is the many creative ways Chelios employs to keep his artificial heart juiced up.

There's so much T&A in this movie, it'll put a cheap porno movie to shame. Violence overfloweth as well. You see baddies getting anal raped with a shotgun barrel dipped in tar, small time baddies slicing off their own nipples to bargain a second chance with their slimy bosses (shown in full graphic glory), baddies getting shot not once, but multiple times in their abdomen till their guts spill out (you can count how many major intestines fell out). You get the picture. I'm beginning to wonder if the R-rating was a little too lenient.

But that's what makes this movie so gratifying.

If I had any complaints about this movie, there're only two. Number one. Remove farking Bai Ling. She's more irritating than a diseased chi hua hua yapping at 2 in the morning; it makes me wonder why Hollywood is still keeping her around. Go home bitch... your time is over. Second, it's kinda sad to see David Carradine ending his movie career with a cheap peverted character called Poon Dong. I would very much prefer ppl remembering him as Bill, from the Kill Bill series; that would have been so much more respectable.

Anyways, gripes aside, I love how over the top Crank : High Voltage is. Never once does it take itself seriously. And the pace at which the movie runs is ridiculously furious. Just when you think you have a breather... SLAM... POW... it kicks into another gear. The ending is horribly stupid... but you'll be too numb to feel it by then. Watch this movie only if you are a masochist. I did, and I loved every painful minute of it.

Now spank my ass.
