This blog has been viewed by 132 visitor(s) I'm a very big fan of sport sandals. My feet perspires like mad, making extended wearing of shoes a big problem. So I find great solace in wearing sandals instead most of the time. And my preference are those which come with adjustable straps, that provides good fit without compromising comfort.
These are my trusty pair of Nike ACG sandals. Which look like they just came back from a civil war in Afghanistan. They served me well for well over 2 years. These have been through countless miles with me, as well as several hikes (conquered Muka Head easily with these sandals) with no problems whatsoever. However, as with most Nike products nowadays, they don't exactly hold up well with age. So the straps are currently as flimsy as Lindsay Lohan after an all nighter drinking binge... and looks just as bad. I need replacements. At first, I thought since my hiking days were over, I should look for something with plush comfort in mind instead. So I got this pair of Camel Active sport sandals. The soles were lined with some sort of suede leather while the leather straps looks durable enough to survive a nuclear fallout. But within a week of wear, I realized these might not be the best replacement for my ACGs.
Firstly, the suede soles may be plush, but it also made my feet harder to breath. Thus the perspiration problem was an issue again. Also, the base of these sandals were as flat as Sammi Cheng's chest, making extended wear a little uncomfortable as there were practically no arch support whatsoever. So it was back to the drawing board. After much looking around, I finally decided to settle upon a pair of Teva Terra-Fi® 2.
Actually, I wasn't intending on purchasing these, but the store owner made me an offer I couldn't refuse; a massive 25% discount off the retail price. But it was still pricey, with these two pairs of Teva running up a bill close to half a grand. Then again, you do get what u pay for. Although these sandals aren't exactly a looker (very simple IMHO), the soles are definitely something else. Adjusted properly, these Tevas mould to your feet like a mother tenderly caressing her precious child. And the arch support beats my old ACG hands down. Which should come in really handy as I'm expecting some heavy duty walking in about a month and a half's time. Woot! leave me a message
